4. Sealant in a Cooling System
Stop-leak products circulate through the entire cooling system and cannot target the leak you meant.

6. Reading a Code and Quoting a Part
A fault code names the circuit where a reading fell outside its expected range. It does not name a broken component.
What goes wrong: an oxygen sensor code is frequently set by a sensor working perfectly and reporting a genuine mixture problem caused by something else upstream.

7. Torquing Suspension Bushes With the Wheels Hanging
Bush bolts on most cars must be tightened with the suspension at normal ride height rather than hanging on the ramp.
What goes wrong: tightened hanging, the rubber is locked in a twisted position and spends its life pre-loaded.
The bush fails within a year and everyone concludes the part was poor quality. It is the step most commonly missed even inside workshops.
